Research

  • Glycomic characterization of tumor-derived extracellular vesicles:
The research aims to develop methods for characterizing N-glycopeptides and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in extracellular vesicles (EVs) isolated from lung cancer cell lines. The long term goal is to identify predictive glycan markers in circulating tumor-derived extracellular vesicles predicting resistance against immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy in non-small cell lung cancer.
  • Identification of predictive biomarkers in lung cancer:
The aim of our research is to identify key proteins and glycans of biochemical processes leading to different types of lung cancer mainly using mass spectrometry-based proteomics and glycomics. The study focuses on analysing formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections of lung cancer patients and applying sample preparation protocols developed by the group. A further aim is to identify marker proteins, protein pathways, and glycans that can predict the possible therapeutic effectiveness of a given biological therapy for a lung cancer patient more effectively.
  • Method developments for mass spectrometry based structural characterization of glycosaminoglycans:
The aim is to develop sensitive HPLC-MS methods for characterizing glycosaminoglycan disaccharides derived from biological samples.
