Biopolymers are in demand in the medical professions and the packaging industry due to reservations – often unjustified – about synthetics. Recent biopolymer findings and those on responsive materials, i.e., materials that respond rapidly to environmental changes, were summed up by the BiPoCo 2014 international scientific conference, of which one organizer was the MTA Research Centre for Natural Sciences.
