The Institute of Molecular Life Sciences (former Institute of Enzymology) pursues research goals stretching across multiple fields of science, resulting in interdisciplinary research using the methods of biology, chemistry physics and informatics at the same time.

The institute’s mission is to help the advancement of the fight against diseases with significant societal effects through world class research projects. The main goals of the research conducted here are the development of innovative treatment options through the detailed description of the molecular disease mechanisms and the development of drug candidates against the identified targets in collaboration with the Centre for Innovative Drug Development. To accomplish these goals, our research groups employ an expanding array of cutting-edge methods in genomics, structural biology, proteomics, systems biology, and bioinformatics.
